George Schu created Avanti Solutions in 2013 to help entrepreneurs craft winning strategies and visions for their companies. He is an investor, advisor and mentor to cybersecurity start-ups, drawing on his years of experience in cybersecurity businesses. He uses creative approaches for business case development, growth achievement and funding.

Prior to Avanti Solutions, George was a Booz Allen Hamilton Partner and Senior Vice President for nearly seven years.  He provided data integrity solutions for a large multinational financial services company.  He delivered regular in-person reports to the Board of Directors.  He led an initiative to help the electrical utilities industry understand cyber vulnerabilities to the electric grid.  He also led multiple businesses supporting Departments of Homeland Security, Justice and other US civilian agencies’ cybersecurity missions.   He was a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events.

Before joining Booz Allen, George was at VeriSign where he was Vice President, Public Sector.   He was responsible for building a new sales group from the ground up.  He led sales, consulting services and business development teams that accounted for substantial growth of VeriSign’s information security business.  George was also responsible for M&A efforts at VeriSign aimed at growing the government market business.  He conducted search and due diligence of technology companies to take VeriSign business to the next level.

Prior to VeriSign, George worked for Oracle Corporation where he led a team focused is on growing the Oracle Information Security solutions in various enterprises.  He had a track record of successfully creating demand for Oracle products through innovative marketing, solution selling and thought leadership.

Prior to Oracle George was in the US Navy, where he rose to the rank of Captain.  He had numerous operational, staff and training assignments.  He flew in Navy aircraft conducting electronic warfare missions.

George has a Masters degree in Security Studies from Georgetown University and is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.  George is active as a member of the Imagination Stage, Board of Directors, a member of the Washington Board of Trade, Cyber Task Force, and an advisor to the MACH-37 Cyber Accelerator.
