Jack J. Pelton – Business Strategies, Business Operations, New Aircraft Development
Jack Pelton is the former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cessna Aircraft Company. Earlier, he served as senior vice president of Product Engineering and oversaw Cessna’s engineering and product development activities, including new aircraft development, design, experimental and production test flight, certifications and product improvements for all Cessna models. Prior to joining Cessna he was Sr. Vice President of Engineering for Dornier Aircraft in Germany. He started his career at Douglas Aircraft where he spent 20 years in Operations, Engineering and Program Management.
Jack currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors of the Experimental Aircraft Association, and is a board member of Redbird Flight Simulations and Corporate Angel Network. He was a member of the board and past chairman of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and has served on the boards of directors of the National Business Aviation Association and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood appointed Jack to the FAA’s Management Advisory Committee for a three-year term in 2011. He also served on Sec. LaHood’s 2010 Future of Aviation Advisory Committee.
In 2010, Jack received the Lindbergh Award given by the Lindbergh Foundation to individuals whose work has contributed significantly toward the concept of balancing technology and the environment, and he received the Elrey Jeppesen Leadership Award in General Aviation for his efforts in communicating the value of the industry. In 2008, Jack received one of the industry’s top accolades — the Aviation Week Laurel for Business and General Aviation — and the Freedom of Flight award, the Experimental Aircraft Association’s highest honor.
Jack has an airline transport pilot’s rating and a commercial pilot’s license with instrument, multi-engine and seaplane ratings. He holds type ratings in several Citation business jets and owns several aircraft and restores antique aircraft.
