Roberto Spinelli – Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Lean & Six Sigma
Roberto Spinelli is a recognized authority on Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement and is Lean and Six Sigma Master Black Belt certified. He has served as a Master Trainer for many major corporations and currently serves as continuous improvement leader for Shell Oil & Gas in a Global role, providing leadership and operational excellence for the retail organization in Argentina, United States and Canada.
He has provided lean manufacturing and Six Sigma training for Bell Helicopter, Cessna Aircraft, EZ-GO, Greenlee, Jacobsen, Kautex, Textron Financial and Textron Systems. At Cessna, he was responsible for roles in operations, engineering, inventory management and facilities planning and utilization. During this time he led a process improvement and inventory challenge project that resulted in a 46% reduction of WIP. He led a placards manufacturing improvement project, in which the manufacturing process time was reduced by more than 90% while increasing customer satisfaction. He also established a new management process for warranty reserves that freed up more than $100 million for corporate financial liquidity while keeping the business exposure under safe margins.
At Office Depot, Roberto developed and led the first Executive Leadership Program (ELP) training and led the Finance organization to improve tax exempt customer processes resulting in 95% processing time reduction. He also led research, investigation and data analysis to establish current and future workflows for the Joint Venture between Univision Communications, Inc. and ABC-News; which led to the creation of the new TV channel “Fusion.”
Fluent in Spanish, Roberto has been a speaker at “Expofuturo”, the second International Congress in Risaralda, Colombia. He was also a speaker at the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT) in Miami Beach.
He represented Cessna in the evaluation for potential business investments in regional infrastructure, resources and technology.
In 2002, Roberto received the first place award from the American Society for Quality for his work “Rapid Fabrication of Composite Lay-Up Tools.” In 2000, he received the first place US National and second place International awards in the SAE Aero Design competition.
